While it’s not everyone’s bag, we believe here at Dread that bruises are beautiful. And it turns out we’re not alone. SJ Horvath is a brilliant artist who has become known for creating realistic cuts, scratches, bruises and scars in tattoo format. These original and fierce designs are getting attention on Instagram, and Inked Magazine recently did a fantastic interview with the artist himself.

SJ Horvath’s realistic “cosmetic scrape, bruise and scar tattoo” is as beautiful as these. And you can get one at your store Black Moon Tattoo in Knoxville, Tennessee. Horvath went to the handle Broken Teeth Tattoo online, where his remarkable work is becoming more popular day by day.

Horvath is a horror fan who combines beauty and the curious to create completely unique tattoos. Check out the gallery of photos below to see what we mean.

According to his conversation with Inked, Horvath describes himself as follows:

My name is SJ Horvath. Mom. Artist. Collector of the odd. Hillbilly. A threat to Mario Kart. I own and operate Black Moon Tattoo in Knoxville, Tennessee with my husband Mo. I’ve been an actor my whole life. I can no longer remember a time where I didn’t draw, paint, sculpt, make or just make a big mess. I love being able to express myself in ways I can’t always say.

When asked about the origins of his famous tattoo style, Horvath said:

About four years ago, my coworker Finn and I were talking about how beautiful bruises are. I know, it sounds silly, but they look like tiny galaxies beneath the surface. We are convinced that they are tattooable. He trusted me enough to make ugly color washers and put them on the side of his knee.

Wherever I am near Knoxville, I will call Horvath by email to make an appointment. From small eyebrow scars to major ‘road rash’ foot marks, there are many options to be nasty. Check out the following incredible designs to pique your interest.

Finally, what do you think of Horvath’s creations? Would you consider having a permanent bruise or scratch on the tattoo? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I am always around to chat about all the scary things!
