RIOPY’s story is extraordinary.

Born in rural France, his mother left home with him when he was six months old, eventually joining a cult, where family ties were discouraged and obedience to the head guru was over to all. Losing any outside culture, young Jean-Philippe taught himself to play an abandoned piano when he was two, make songs in his head, then perform them.

To escape the cult, he was forced to cut off all communication with his family. He finally came out the day he turned 18. Throughout his time in the cult and once he was trying to find his new life, he battled depression, OCD and addiction.

After periods of homelessness, he finally moved to England to get a job at a music shop in Reading where he befriended a kindly academic who encouraged him to apply and win a place at university. . He started working as a pianist in bars and venues across London and he heard one day Chris Martin of Coldplay, who generously gave Riopy his first piano, which put him on the path to his global success. RIOPY began to take control of his life and return it to yoga, meditation, clean living and hard work.

He had no doubt that the music had saved him.

“Music set me free,” says RIOPY, who recalls how it became a place of escape in his childhood and helped him overcome his ongoing OCD. “I discovered a place in my mind where I could compose and create. When I focused on music, it left no room for any other thoughts….

Talking about his upcoming album [extended] Bliss. “Everything feels for me. This record is very important to me because ‘bliss’ is what I want to share. Music is healing. The purity of the piano, along with my own tuning, is designed to bring us into that state. Music cannot cure everyone, but for what is happening now, it will definitely help our mental condition. ”
